Fall in Colorado

These were taken years ago, but we've got these same colors this fall.

You can see the red log cabin in the background:

The weather has been very warm and windy and the fire danger is very high. Even though I'm not in the mood to think about it, I'm making fire evacuation lists and gathering items into piles just in case. The cat has her own evacuation bag, but I need to re-visit it and make sure her papers are in there and up to date.

Those homeless people moved out of my guest cabin on time. They'd told me they would get paid Monday and would get a motel room, but their boss found out about them staying here, and said payday wasn't until Thursday, so he'd do something about it. He said he knows someone who has a camper for rent and would try to work that out for them. Good, I wish them all the best.

Fire or flood. Guess there's no really safe place to live although flooding wouldn't be a problem for me if they hadn't built a full basement under the house. Fall was about the same here, a week or so of good color then the wind and now the rain. Somebody used the "s" word for the weekend but I haven't seen that in any official forecast so I'm hoping for the best!

I always think of your area as getting lots and lots of snow.

It seems to be taking a lot longer for trees to turn colors now. Yours are pretty. And why do I find it enjoyable putting together survival kits for disasters and storms?

I think it's something about those nifty multi-tools and the packs of dehydrated water and the wind-proof matches. Rain ponchos, flashlights that you wear on your head, and space blankets.

And we are having Fall in Fort Lauderdale--only a high of 82 degrees today!!!

Strangely, it's around 80 degrees here too.

It looks beautiful. I'll bet the aspens are gorgeous.

A lot of the aspens lost their leaves early but the cottonwoods are making up for it with the same gold colors.
