I'm pretty sure I saw/heard a male hummingbird this afternoon, and rushed to hang a feeder outside, although they don't usually show up until after April 20. A lady lower in the canyon says she already has two of them, so it's possible we are running this early.
Made a quick trip to town today, got a number of things done, including coming across a bake sale at a Mexican church. They were making raised donuts and the whole building smelled great. There was also a big assortment of cakes and cupcakes. I don't recall seeing any cookies, but there were churros. It was hard to pick something to buy because I didn't leave home with the idea of coming home with some dessert. I ended up with a tres-leches cake (soaked in three milks) and a couple of those donuts.
Yes, the frosting is an odd coral color.
Here's my tomatoes and cucumber that came Fed Ex yesterday. The tomatoes are special short season varieties. In a few weeks I'll set them outside in water wall teepees. The seed company claims red plastic enclosing the tomatoes encourages them to grow. We'll see.
I bought a used Nintendo DS (handheld game) for my cousin Betsy in Las Vegas, and Mr. Troutbend delivered it today. I found the Wheel of Fortune cartridge, and I hope she's happy with it.
Happy Easter everyone!
