The new cabin still isn't completely done, but we're getting to the end. Today the builders painted the entry doors. I was going to leave them white, but 'those drywall guys put a bunch of dents' in them. I think it was also the builder's guys because they were always dragging heavy things in and out. The drywallers were there one day, the builders have been working on it for 18 months.
It is hard to choose a color for something as important as an entry door - it's the focal point of the front of the house. I didn't want something bold like red or black, so looked at Feng Shui guidance. It said wood color is for facing east, so decided gold or yellow would be close enough. And I wanted to use the same color inside with the woodwork.
Mr. TroutBend worked for weeks researching, designing, and building this nice ladder.
But the building inspector surprised us with the news that the ladder has to meet the 2015 international building code. If he'd known that, he could have built it that way.
So the builders had to throw this crude lumber one together in order to pass the building permit inspection.
It's harder to climb because the rungs are required to be so close together.
