Deer!

We haven't seen many deer on the property this summer, but last night at dusk a larger buck and twin yearlings came into the front yard. It was too dark for pictures, but you can get an idea of the beautiful rack on the larger one.

Quackers had already gone to bed. There was a doe here the other day and she was very curious about the goose.

He wasn't alarmed, just kept on guarding the driveway.

Most of his time was out there on the front drive watching for trespassers, and he never failed to quack a lot when someone came onto the property.

Not many people have a guard goose. Feel blessed.

He really was a good guard, actually scared off a fisherman who had no business on this side of the bridge.

Those are great night shots. We are overrun with deer here. So much building on the open spaces. People have to put chicken wire around their expensive landscaping in some neighborhoods.

I put chicken wire around my petunias so the ground squirrels won't eat them. I'm sure if we had more deer (and better landscaping) we'd have to worry about what the deer are going to eat.

I was going to do the pun title: Oh Dear! but it was too early in the morning for it.

Wow! That buck had a beautiful rack. I hope no hunters spy him.

There is hunting around here, I'm sure, but it's not a big area for it because so much of the land is private.

Laura, I sent you a pm and ask if you remember the post with humming birds eating on a lady's hand. I can't find it now. I sure would like to copy the pictures for a friend that would love them.

I started looking, came up with a bunch of hits for YouTube videos of it. I know that one you mean - the pictures were in an email. I'll keep looking.
