The hummingbirds are especially voracious, and we used 10 pounds of sugar just today to make juice for them.
We have a water association so that we can pump water out of the river (water rights are a big deal here in Colorado), and the annual meeting was today. They elected me vice president. I hope it's mostly an honorary position, similar to the VP of the United States. I do know how to spell potato, and I'm not a crook like Spiro Agnew, but I don't want to be the puppet master like Dick Cheney.
We had a big rain storm this afternoon, an inch of rain in an hour. Yes, it reminded me of the flood, and I'm glad I wasn't here by myself. It eroded our newly-repaired driveway and we'll have to do some work tomorrow.
I still have the inspection placards on my houses, and the other day someone asked me why I haven't removed them. I told them I'm waiting for the one-year anniversary. I'll take down the placards, turn off the power, and use generator power to watch TV all weekend, just like a year ago.
Some people almost reserved the cabin next door for that weekend, and it made me nervous to think of someone over there on that anniversary because I had guests from Florida there when the flood hit. These potential renters changed it to a week earlier. I didn't ask if they were thinking about the flood when they did it. I think I'll just block off those dates.
A couple days later, the people who were coming from Nebraska for a week on the day the flood started are coming for their annual stay. That morning, as the water was starting to rise, their daughter emailed that they were on the way, and I didn't get a chance to let them know what was going on before communication with the outside world was cut off. I'm looking forward to finding out when they found out the whole region was inaccessible.

I've been working on a website for our river coalition. The foundation is Wordpress, but I'm not setting it up as a blog, just a website. There are a lot of features, which means there is a learning curve.
Big Thompson River Coalition Someone else set it up last fall, posted a bunch of information, and never cleaned out the stale and obsolete data. And they didn't follow the basic rules of website navigation. I just hate that in a website.
This year I have peas in my garden and harvested what people refer to as 'a mess' of them for supper. I can't decide if these peas are supposed to edible pods, or shelling peas. My green beans are slow to get going this year, and I talked to someone yesterday who said the same thing - must be the weather in general this year.
