What's in the Camera: Monument Valley

I've decided my faithful camera has worn out. For a long time I thought the shutter was slow because of some setting combination, but the camera is more than 7 years old, so maybe it's time has run. Maybe I'll take it in to a camera store to make sure before I replace it. I have another digital camera that works okay, but I don't like it as well.

The drive from Las Vegas is supposed to take around 13 hours, but I went a different route so I could visit my favorite uncle (come to think of it, he's the only uncle I have left) who recently moved into a nursing home. It is a very scenic drive through part of Monument Valley and I got a few pictures out of that camera, but it was a struggle.

Monument Valley is Tony Hillerman country.

On top of this cliff is a rock formation that looks like an elephant or a man standing up. It had two eyes and a nose. Because of the camera problems, this is all I got of it:

I have mixed feelings about being back here, more about that later.

OMG! Eloise is such a beautiful cat. Nice scenery too.

She has that classic symmetrical face. What a mouser! She caught one this morning, killed it fast and didn't chew it up. I threw it outside for the ravens.

love Eloise's picture. The desert scenes are straight out of old movies.

I was in that area where they filmed all those westerns. It's still wide-open scenery with no developments to ugly it up.

This landscape reminds me of all the old westerns. The desert has it's
own beauty.

Beautiful!! Reminds me of when Jenn and Sofi and I went to CO and came back through NM.

We drove through the OK panhandle one time, and I thought it looked like the Four Corners area but with humidity.

Nothing lasts forever. Cell phones have more mps than my old Kodak but it's still kickin' so I stick with it.

I think there is probably dirt in the button that moves the shutter. I'm going to see if I can figure out how to clean it out. Meanwhile, we got a go-pro for Christmas but I haven't used it yet.

Looks good! Are there still camera stores? I know 2 went out of buisness around here!

I don't know, maybe there aren't any camera stores any more. There are cell phone repair stores, so maybe they would look at it.

New camera! Get desert pics! Want want
I like the look of deserts, but could never live there, can't take the dryness.

I was trying to order a camera online, and the shopping cart couldn't validate my shipping address (although it usually works for other companies). I finally had to give up - couldn't get it delivered.
