Airplane Pictures

Here are some interesting airplane photos from the southwest.

Virgin Atlantic 747 landing at Las Vegas airport:

Starting in April 2011 Virgin Atlantic will have direct flights from Las Vegas to Manchester, England on Thursdays and Sundays.

Allegiant Airlines specializes in direct-to-Las Vegas flights from small, regional airports, such as my nearest town in Colorado, Loveland. They were one of the first airlines to start charging fees for all kinds of things, not only for baggage, but such things as a 'convenience fee' for booking the flight over the Internet instead of driving out to the airport to do it. I recently received a promotional email from them announcing flights to Long Beach for $15.99 one way, but the bottom line after fees was $40.00 and change. But still, it is so convenient to fly from the local airport, it's worth it.

This was taken at the Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix. That name makes me think of alien transport vehicles from outer space lining up for their turn to land or take off. That aside, I just like the way these particular earth people transport vehicles are lined up.

Here is the airport at Sedona, Arizona. Look at those beautiful rock formations. Easy to see why it's such a popular area to visit and contemplate lost the civilizations that were in the area 10,000 years ago:

If someone ever offers you a free vacation in Sedona, don't turn it down.

I'm always put off by people gushing about 'must see' places, don't like to be part of the gawking crowd, but they are famous for a reason, so I might swing by there someday.

Oh Oh Oh, the last picture - fantastic! The different levels of geology in the mountains - phenomenal beauty

I'm so sorry that my English relatives who visit our country never get a chance to see these parts that are far away from the big cities. Although they did at one time want to see Devil's Tower, which is really out in the middle nowhere, several days travel for 15 minutes of sight.

I don't want to fly anymore. It used to be so nice but will be full of
angry people if the furor over pat downs and imaging is really that bad.

According to some local columnists here, they went to the airport looking for po'd folks, and nobody was making that big a deal about it.

I haven't gotten over my flights to and from Hawaii. I'll stick to driving for awhile. Nice photos.

Those Hawaii flights are killer for me, too. I've discovered there are flights from there that aren't all-night red-eyes. If I ever go again, I'm going to look into that.

All said and done, the thought of flying currently has me turned off. I will still do it if I'm going far enough. Nice pix. Sedona is definitely lovely.

I'm really excited about their non-stops from Vegas next year.
