38 Hats and Some Mittens

Over the past few months I've been working on knitting warm hats for charity. I haven't found a charity yet, but I'm ready when I do. Here are a few of them.

You are a GREAT KNITTER!!! We used to knit hats and gloves and scarves for all the homeless people in our town, as well as some of the newborns that were born to low income families. We had a community organization that helped distribute them. Hopefully you can find a place to take these. I know it would mean a lot to someone who needs it.

I have seen some articles in "Guide Psst" mag about someone or some club knitting hats and gloves for different groups or people. If I can find them I'll let you know

The people on the Jersey Shore and on Staten Island and Long Island could use warm hats and mittens. The Salvation Army in that area is distributing supplies. You might find an address on Google.

I'll look and see.

Fabulous! I especially like the colour combination in the pink & green striped hat (bottom, right corner) and the style of the ear flap hat in the third photo. Don't forget to restock your stash at the Estes Park Wool Market June 8 - 9.

I wish you would come to the wool market some time. You would get a lot more out of it than I do. It's part petting zoo because the alpaca ranchers bring their animals in hopes of selling some off.

Homeless children would be good. Shelters abound. I love them all, the
gold and brown would be great for boys.

Sometimes I wonder about what gang colors I should be avoiding.

Last time I heard, there were just 24 hrs in a day. Have you passed through some special portal?
comment by steve on Jan 20, 2013 9:51 AM ()
It represents a lot of days.

love the bright pink ones! great work! I never learned how to knit but I do crochet alot.

Crochet just throws me for a loop (hah) - I can't see where the stitches are to count them. I'm envious of anyone who can do it because there are so many cute patterns. That's probably what the crocheters say about knitting patterns.

Marg can probably point you in the right direction. Didn't know you were a serious knitter!

2011 was the year of scarves, 2012 was the year of hats, but I haven't figured out what 2013 is the year of.

Very nice indeed -- you shouldn't have any trouble finding a charity.
comment by tealstar on Jan 20, 2013 6:15 AM ()
Probably not - I'll be looking around locally. I hope you are feeling better and having a good day today.

Proud of you and your knitting fingers!

Go ahead — a splash of wine makes gravy divine!

Thanks! I was making some turkey gravy today and thinking about how you said sometimes you put a slug of booze in it. (I think I remember you saying that.)
