Smelling Smoke?

Our Colorado weather turned hot and dry. Several wildfires started over this past week. Smoke plume extends into the midwest. It is smoky and hazy here. The nearest fire is 35 miles to the northwest of here. We are not under threat from it, but the fact that the people in the area it started didn't have enough warning to gather their things, is a reminder to all of us to gather our things and be ready to get out.

I so hate hearing about the wildfires out West every year, both dangerous and ruinous. It seems like something mankind could handle but we never realize how big nature is.

By the way the fires turned our son to a brilliant orange ball. It was pretty but I hated it.

I've been told it's a necessary part of nature, but those fires always make me sad.

May those fires stay far away from you!

Excellent reminder! Readiness for a speedy exit in case of fire has been a habit of mine since I experienced my first fire in the apartment building I lived in long ago. I had my papers in ready reach, but the sounds of the alarms and sirens scared my two cats into hiding and I could not get them. The fire in the one apartment was put out, with no harm to my apartment or my cats. Never want to go through that again!

It's our hurricane season and has already had 11 named storms--usually, those don't come until November so who knows what's ahead.
Meanwhile, we are having a lot of sun, heat and humidity which can trigger our fires but so far none!
Mother Nature has gone crazy over the way the humans are treating her lands!

It is a lot like our tornado season...You just have your important papers and valuable stuff ready to go to the storm cellar.
