Mr. Tbend's brother is scanning old family 35mm slides and emailing the results.
This is a picture of their mother's sister, Aunt Pat, taken in 1949.
I sent it to her, and here's her response:
Dear Laura.
I cannot begin to tell you the memories brought back by this picture. I have no idea where you found it. I have never seen it, so I suppose it was taken by George. I was 15 at the time.
About the chair, no Daddy didn't make it. It was probably old when he was born, at least it was in some snapshots of him being given a bath when he was an infant, so it's at least 125 years old. And now I have it!
However, Mother did make the gown I'm wearing, by using parts of two hand-me-downs. I think the top came from a gown of my aunt's, and the skirt from one of Jean's prom gowns. And she made a small drawstring bag from the left over velvet of the gown WHICH I STILL HAVE!
Thank you, thank you Laura. That was a very special time for me.
Love,
Aunt Pat
