Here is a baby hummingbird fresh from the nest, getting used to the big world. It sat there for 20 minutes.



The other birds continue with their business, shooting it the occasional look.



They will be here a few more weeks, time for him/her to get strong from eating bugs, visiting flowers, and spending time at our feeders. It will be sad to see them go south for the winter, returning next April.

Mr. Troutbend made a quick trip to Las Vegas to check on the house. While there, he ate at the casino cafe - the buffet is closed. And they were handing out these terry cloth tablecloths. He thought it was a round beach towel, but we decided most beach towels don't have fringe around the edge.
