I know the recent disappearance of the dancer from the Luxor was on national news because her sister had made nationwide appeals for assistance in finding her. Here is an update on the case, because now that the body has been found, I don't know how much the national media is keeping everyone updated.
Turns out she was dead all along. There was a false alarm a couple of weeks ago when a young woman's body was found in the desert, but that was a different case, so it was several weeks before the dancer was finally found.
Here is an item from today's Las Vegas Review-Journal:
"The sister of slain dancer Debora Flores Narvaez let loose a profanity-laced tirade at the murder suspect after a brief appearance Wednesday in North Las Vegas Justice Court.
"I hope you (expletive) rot in jail, you (expletive), for what you did to her, you (expletive). I hope you rot in hell," Celeste Flores Narvaez yelled to Jason "Blu" Griffith as he was escorted from Justice of the Peace Chris Lee's courtroom. Griffith appeared in court dressed in prison scrubs with his arms and legs chained.
Griffith, the former boyfriend of Debora Flores Narvaez and a performer in the Cirque du Soleil show "Love" at The Mirage, was charged with murder, felony battery constituting domestic violence (strangulation) and destroying evidence, a gross misdemeanor."
The former boyfriend strangled her, chopped up her body, submerged it in tubs filled with concrete and rented a U-Haul truck to take them to an abandoned house. He was eventually turned in by a friend who was given immunity in exchange for his testimony. People around here are incensed that this friend and a female accomplice did not come forward sooner - they waited several weeks while the sister frantically searched for the missing woman.
There is evidence that the boyfriend purchased a bunch of concrete lately, and there was a GPS in the U-Haul truck that provided clues as to where he drove it.
So that's it. We figured she was dead, but this is a different disposal method than the usual around here - throwing the body in the desert and setting it on fire.
