Happy Easter!

Easter is so early this year, it totally snuck up on me. I was just starting to think about sending cards, and it was already Good Friday.

It's too early for spring flowers at this altitude - we're still getting snow and overnight lows in the 20s. More snow this weekend, and I'm going to strew some wildflower seeds on top of the snow.

There are indications that we have another batch of baby foxes this year. I'm trying to figure out which of the three (or four) adults are the parents. It will probably be several weeks before we see the whole family out in the open.

I'm at 1600 feet and it seems like your weather is very similar to here, although I seem to remember you saying that daytime temps in winter get warm enough to melt snow.

We often have wind in the form of chinooks that decreases the snow cover through sublimation even when it's below freezing in the day time. The couple of winters I spent in Vermont, I was surprised that winter snow stayed on the ground all winter - I was used to seeing the dirt between snow storms. I also think we get more UV rays - thinner air, higher altitude.
