Happy Easter

Yesterday the grocery checker asked if we are doing anything special for Easter. What first came to mind was that holidays usually sneak up on us, and we forget to plan special food for them, and my next thought was the years that our idea of special holiday food for the Fourth of July was to buy a large bag of potato chips. No, I'm not doing anything special meal-wise, but I might make a coffee cake for the guy who works at the local post office.

Mr. TroutBend's bowling leagues in Las Vegas are getting near the end of the season and as the weather there warms up, he is making plans to visit here in Colorado for most of the summer. It's always a little sad because he has to leave the Las Vegas Cat to fend for himself. He can still get into the house through a vent in the garage => cat door => house, and there will be lots of food and water, but we always worry that something will happen to him. We used to have a neighbor there who called him Big Boy and fed him, but she's moved, so we don't know who else in the neighborhood looks out for him.

I hope yours was happy. We enjoyed a church service and lots of fellowship with friends all day.

That is sort of like my 20th Leap Year birthday cake in 2016--half carrot and the other half chocolate cake!

The holiday really crept on me too, but I've heard from one sister so have somewhere to be on Sunday. Cats who go outdoors all the time can be awfully independent, I thought. Here the animal rescue place has an arrangement so people in rural areas can take on a Barn Cat, who lives out of the house, in a barn I guess, and is expected to earn his keep with rodent catching. Sounds a bit like your cat's summer.

Meanwhile my cat here in Colorado caught and killed a deer mouse last night. Part of that includes her putting it in the bathtub for awhile (mouse poos in the tub) and then the corpse ends up in the bedroom. I'm always grateful when she doesn't eat half of it and leave half on the carpet.

We go to church service tonight and that is the only thing we do that is different. I could cook something special but am not so inclined. I noticed that Aldi's has ham for 59 cents a pound. not interested.
