Flamingo Hotel, Las Vegas Remodeling

The Flamingo Hotel is planning on redecorating the 2,300 rooms.

Here is the room we had in 2007:

It was a large room, this is only one of the beds.

Here is a room from a stay in 2009. Hopefully it looks better in person - that shiny headboard looks like whipped egg whites.

The new look is going to feature hardwood floors, the first I've ever seen in a Vegas hotel room, and touches of pink to underline the 'flamingo' concept.

Whenever I think about the name 'flamingo' I remember a former Las Vegas traffic reporter who pronounced it "Flaming-O" as in: Traffic on the Strip is backed up due to an accident on Flaming-O.

I love the white headboards.

They're interesting, aren't they? I heard about a furniture consignment/estate sale store here in Las Vegas that we're going to track down next week. (YouKnowWho doesn't know this yet.)

I would expect hardwood floors to be rather noisy for the people in the room below.

You're right: a lot of the hotel rooms in town have marble or granite floors in the bathroom and entry hall, and you can definitely hear people clacking around on them.

I'll bet. Too bad we're not rich enough to stay in a series of fancy hotels in Florida just for comparison.
