Fishing in the Rain

Probably not the most original title. Yesterday was a fine spring day, 60 degrees with a little nip in the air. Today started out sunny but around 11 a.m. the clouds moved in, and now it's raining and 46 degrees. When I went to get the mail, 5 miles east, and 900 feet lower in altitude, it was completely dry down there.

There are fishermen out in the river today and I invited them to use the front porch of the cabin next door for lunch, which they appreciated. They don't mind fishing in rain, but when it comes to eating, under a roof sitting on chairs is nicer. We're gradually getting that cabin ready for guests Friday night. A fisherman and his brother. So far, things are good - no burst pipes from the winter, got the satellite TV working, and the pilot light on the furnace is lit.

See the fish?

Reminds me of working in the rain/mist all week at the East slopes of Glacier NP (Wild. Vol.) and looking out over the Eastern plains at blue skies. I got depressed.

There can be such differences between the foothills/mountain weather and what's going on down on the plains. Every day I look at an airport weather camera pointed up towards here from I-25, and sometimes it looks totally fogged in up here, but we're in sunshine.

I can't imagine fishing in the rain. I am surprised that you are having guests this early.

The fishing starts as soon as the ice melts sufficiently, so they began in April. They fish like crazy for a couple of months because once the spring runoff kicks in, the river is too high, so there might not be any fishing for the whole month of June, even though the weather will be lovely. As far as cabin guests go, we won't get many until July, although an early bird is coming this weekend.

I like that yellowy green. Wonder if I could mix that colour for some wool.

Last fall an artist was trying to paint from our bridge and of course the water was this green-gold-brown but she painted it blue because she said people expect water to be blue.
