We are finally getting some close-to-freezing nights, but to cap off this unusual summer, our days are mostly warm, in the high 70s. A lot of the fall leaves have since faded, but we still have some to go. 
A couple of turkey hens showed up in the back yard, either fluffed up, or well-fed. If they happen to be here at the same time as the foxes, both parties ignore each other because the birds are the as big as the foxes.
We watched the eclipse via a hole in a piece of paper, a two-person job because the focal length was longer than a person's arm.
