Came for a visit - stayed all day. Came back the next day. Lots of eating and pooping.

They must eat all day long to get like that on greenery. Great shots, and I love the fuzzy antlers.

I wish they'd come back this fall when the antlers are fully grown, but when the velvet is shedding, they rub against the small trees, which can do a lot of damage.

It's nice because they are mellow and sedate, not jumpy like deer or aggressive like moose. We would never try to touch the elk, but have gotten near to them in the process of guarding the vegetable garden.

They are really looking good and fat. It must have been a nice winter season with plenty of food.

We had lot of snow this past winter and some of them looking for food - it was hard to watch them trying to dig around the trees in case there was something there.
