Cute Name for a Pig

This pot bellied pig named Crispy Bacon (aka Crispy) was on TV today in a segment about pet insurance.

Crispy's owners thought they'd pig-proofed the house, but one day he got into some prescription medications and almost died of a drug overdose.

The vet bills were high, but the owners had insured Crispy, so that helped, and he survived.

Pot bellied pigs are very smart. We met one in a park once named Harley and his owners were telling us how he'll get into things - open the clothes dryer and pull things out. And there was one in the town next to me that woke up the family when the house caught on fire in time for them all to escape safely.

Hah! I wonder if Crispy Bacon's family only eats turkey bacon.

I think they are cute but I will stick to my cats and dogs.

Those pigs start out cute and little but if they get too much to eat they grow too large, and then they're more difficult to deal with.

We went for brunch a week ago at a place called Portia's named after their pot bellied pig Portia--the resemblance is everywhere including place mats!!! :O)

How fun! Portia is a good name for a pig. There were some people in Denver who trained their pigs Porkchop and Bacon to do tricks.

I have heard they make good pets but I won't try it.

It would be a special challenge. There was a large pot-belllied pig (over fed, grew too big) along the highway coming from Loveland that we'd see out in the corral all the time, and then it died, and they put up a tombstone/sign "RIP Chubs, we miss you." I thought that was nice so we'd know what became of it.
