I don't often write a blog but reading Martin's post made me stop and think. Now I'm a horse of a different color. I'm a Messianic Jew. I believe that Yeshua is Messiah, but I also embrace Judaism and celebrate the feasts and shabbat, etc. Today at sundown begins my Sabbath. Neither the Jews nor the Christians embrace us, we are a small minority. What I believe is that it is my job to love all people and to touch people in any way I can. To give to the poor, to help, to offer a shoulder and to be completely non-judgmental. You see I really don't have room to judge anyone because the Bible says, "with what measure you judge others, you too shall be judged." That's just frightening. I mean who wants to sit in that seat?
My friends are a mixture of all sorts of people. I see the person first. Whether or not they are black purple green orange, gay bisexual straight or have a horn growing out of their heads is really irrelevant because I believe that you love people for who they are. And yes, on occasion, I have voted Republican, but then I've also voted Democrat. I'm not married to either party and personally right now, would like to wash my hands of both. I believe Washington needs an enema and let's get rid of the crap and start over.
I am straight. I've been married for 32 years and still love the man I've been married to. And yes, we still like each other. Martin once told me it gave him hope for all of us. LOL
I said all this to say that you shouldn't judge someone by whether they are Democrat or Republican, gay or straight, black green orange yellow brown or purple. You should just see the person.
I tell my students that when I look at them, I don't see color ethnicity or anything else. I see my kids. Each one is special. Each one deserves as much help, care and patience as I can give. That's just me.
