Snow in Mississippi

Dottie phoned at 8am to say she had 2 inches of snow in her yard! She's from Michigan and grew up with snowy winters, but after years in Mississippi, she's so pleased to see a little of the white stuff down here. I looked out my window but there was only a cold drippy rain, no snow--and I only live one county away.

Lots of schools cancelled classes. Tomorrow there will be photos on the front of the papers showing little kids who have never seen snow posing by their scrawny snowmen made from snow scraped off lawns, so the snowmen have bits of leaves and twigs packed into the snow.

Many counties put sand on bridges, but the media is urging people to stay home and off the roads because of possible icing. This doesn't deter people from driving like they always do, so early this morning there had already been 24 accidents in Lincoln County alone.

I've made a pot of soup and a crock pot full of herbal tea and I'm not going anywhere. Snug as a bug, here in deep south, y'all stay warm too... susil

We sat and watched the news, I thought sure you would get some snow. It looked so weird seeing snow in New Orleans.

No offense, but talking about the weather bores me. Teaching it is a different matter.

So very rare. It snowed in Houston earlier. I was stationed at Fort Hood, Texas for a while long ago and it snowed there on Thanksgiving Day. One time I was in the mountains of Mexico, north of Guadalajara and it snowed. So odd.

It's been pouring all day. Many flash floods today.

Hi Sue, I sit here and watched it snow. At times it was really hard.
The temp was warm enough that it melted as fast as it came down.
I went out early afternoon and treated myself to a few things
and saw a few wrecks. Had to turn around to get past one.

We've had 18 inches thus far this fall (winter)...

I repeat, I love snow. Blizzards in New York were Heaven. The snow muffles all noise. You walked (stomped) threw snow to your destination, creating footprints in virgin territory. Later as the thaw set in, it was slush, and I say, so what. An Islands woman who cleaned for me loved it too. She told wonderful story of dragging her husband outside in the middle of the blizzard and throwing snowballs, and, she reported, he said, "Woman, you crazy." I miss her too.

We had severe thunderstorms off of that same storm here and then snow flurries the next night. We didn't get any on the ground. I am glad you all got some snow though. The snow went south of us here in Dallas/Fort Worth.
