Home of the Panties

Petal Mississippi is a small town adjacent to Hattiesburg (The Big City.) Petal police are offering a reward for clues about the vandalism of Petal High School. Before the inside of the school was vandalized, these suspected teenagers had done a number on a new and very costly sign installed over the Petal football stadium.

The sign read in big red letters "HOME OF THE PANTHERS." Well, these kids snuck in one night and somehow climbed up to the big sign and neatly spray painted over the end of the sign and changed it to read "HOME OF THE PANTIES."

It took a company with a truck with a cherry picker bucket with a boom extension long enough to get up high enough to install the sign--but somehow these kids got up there and spray painted it with red paint that matched the sign, and did a nice neat job of it. The paper wrote about this incident many times, and even though these kids need to be caught, "HOME OF THE PANTIES" is still pretty funny.

Kids can do some hilarious things. I can't help but laugh.

Hi jeri; every time the paper prints a serious update about this, the line "Home of the panties" is always included and I have to laugh.

Although I can't condone vandalism, that is pretty funny

Hi breze; Well, that's the way I feel about it--although it was vandalism, it was funny--and the teens altered the sign the day before a big football game with another high school, so the principal had to scramble to get the sign fixed that day.

I am behind with the news. I haven't seen that yet. Guess I've been too busy in the yard and garden. Haven't been keeping up with news.

Hi larry, our news sources are drying up--the Hattiesburg American building is being sold, and the paper is already being printed in Jackson.Mmmm, think I'll blog about that. Be good!

It really is funny. Too bad they weren't content with the sign modification and moved on to mess up the inside of the school.

Yes, when they trashed the school, it wasn't just a prank anymore. (The sign vandalism and the inside school incident were two separate occurences.)
