We Need a Ballbreaker

I heard on NPR that President Obama is going to start pulling troops out of Iraq, but stay in Afghanistan. It's because Obama is looking toward re-election in 2012 that he's trying to fulfill a campaing promise he made when running against McCain--that he'd get our troops out of Iraq. But NPR says Obama won't say "mission accomplished."

That makes sense, because no mission was accomplished except to send men to Iraq and get them butchered for nothing--absolutely nothing. Iraq is going to be left in worse shape than we found it, animosity toward Americans amplified, billions of dollars thown away at an absolutely stupid futile war. Stupid stupid stupid. The village idiots have gone to Washington and are in charge of this country, and Obama is not strong and forceful enough to stand up and stop it. He's a nice guy, that's the problem. You can't be conciliatory with the village idiots.

I was talking to an guy who had served in Iraq, and he says if we withdraw from there, it's be like saying to those who have died there that they died for nothing. So should we keep sending soldiers there to keep getting slaughtered so those have already died won't feel bad? Idiocy! Get the hell out of there and spend the money here in our country on our own people--domestic programs are failing, infrastructure crumbling, and the Taliban is going to break the back of this great country by draining resources till we're dry.

Obama, I voted for you, but you're too placating, not the ballbreaker this country needs right now.

I really don't see how he could do much better with the Republicans voting
against every thing he stands for. I too, think we need to get our guys
home. It was Dubya's war achieved through lies. There are plenty of
people here who need assistance. Let's spend the money at home on our own
people.

Let them take over. Why fight against the people? We tried it in Vietnam and failed. We will always fail wars using conventional forces against insurgents. The insurgents are the victors in all of these conflicts. The only other solution is to kill the entire population. Would we do that? No. Bring home the troops. Let the locals wage their own wars. Make out borders secure and fight them from here if they try to come. Of course they will. They always have and always will try. It's life.

I agree with everything you said--thanks!

I do think he is catching on, but the war is indeed a dilemma because we leave and the bad forces take over once more. At least that is the argument.

They've been fighting each other since civilization began and will still be doing so 1,000 years from now. That argument to stay over there sounds like something GW Bush thought up--a lame excuse for taking over another country.
