It's been five years today since Katrina The Monster came and tried to blow us away, and wipe us off the face of the earth. This morning started out with an apropos event. The lights went out at 7am. The power came back on quickly, but it seemed a signal, a small reminder so this day won't be forgotten. It said--Remember when it went off five years ago and didn't come back on.
There was no dawn this morning-- it was deadly quiet and pitch dark with thick storm clouds and no air movement. At 10am it started to rain and after that a gloom of gray clouds have covered the sky. Appropriate for this day.
My daughter phoned and said "You seem to have taken this harder than most folks." Maybe so. That's my business. Would people who lived through the bombing of the trade towers, their families, and citizen's of NYC think people have the right to say to them "Get Over It?" It's a personal thing.
So on this day, in memory of the unknown and the known, and since you never know what the next hour holds, I decided to follow bumper sticker advice and "Eat Dessert First" and had peach cobbler and ice cream for breakfast.
Adios and bye for now. susil
