Ever since tropical storm Lee left, we have been enjoying the most gorgeous weather which has invigorated me. Cool nights, mild days, cloudless blue skies, low humidity. Wonderful! A weatherman said "we're having San Diego weather." Imagine a place where you can enjoy this year round!
Yesterday I saw something beautiful on this nice day. I was pulling out of the driveway and saw my neighbor Dickey's horses grazing in his field to my left. The far end of his field is right in front of my house. A Belgian draft horse was munching right next to the fence. This is a beautiful animal. He looked up and watched as I got in the car and slammed the door. I stopped and opened the car door and turned the radio on. His ears perked up and twitched at this new sound.
His coat looked soft as velvet. He has a blond mane and tail, which he lazily flicked around his haunches as he observed me and the car. His curiosity shows that horses are not stupid.
Then in the field to the right, my neighbor Custer's Longhorn cattle were grazing next to the fence. I turned off the car halfway down the drive at a point where I could see both the horse and the cows.
I enjoyed seeing that beautiful horse and the interesting cattle all in one viewpoint.
On the radio someone was singing "there's something wrong with the world today; we're livin' on the edge, livin' on the edge..."
But for those few minutes I was right there in the moment, and that moment was fine.
