I missed the first ten minutes of Oprah yesterday so I'm hoping I get the name of her guest right --a disgraced preacher named Ted Haggard. He was well known for his diatribes against homosexuality, drugs, etc. Well, a male prostitute went on the air saying he and Haggard not only had sex, but the preacher had given him money to buy crystal meth for him too.
Ted Haggard looks untrustworthy. He has little, deep set eyes, that remind me of a weasel squinting out from under a rock. He has a big mouth and big teeth, and big rubbery looking lips that "look like he could suck the chrome off a trailer hitch." (The quote is from a drill sgt. in Full Metal Jacket.)
So his church body kicked Haggard out and forbade him from ever preaching again, and told him to get out of the state of Colorado and never come back. Oprah had his wife come out on stage. She is a very attractive woman who has borne him 5 children, and says Haggard told her before their marriage that he had feelings for men but he thought he'd suppressed all that with God's help. Obviously it didn't work.
His wife says she is Standing By Her Man. She reminds me of Joey Buttafuoco's wife, who believed all his lies for years and said she'd Stand By Her Man but finally wised up and divorced that goober. As Oprah's show was going off the air, a notice was shown that Haggard has been  taped in a sexual liasion with two other men.
You know, it doesn't matter if Haggard was unfaithful with men or women--he was still unfaithful and his wife should wise up and kick him to the curb so he can pursue the homosexual lifestyle he seems to really want. As usual, it is the wife and children who will suffer.
PS There will be a documentary about the preacher on HBO tonight.
