This has been a great day, a wonderful day. This morning Valentina came and told me news I wasn't expecting. She said she heard on the news that President Obama has dropped the proposed Richton salt dome site for oil storage. The DOE
will use sites in Louisiana and Texas where there are already established storage salt domes.

I know I've wailed and harped on this for months, very much opposed to using the site in Richton Mississippi, in my county, for several reasons. The opposition committee wasn't doing diddly to stop it--and here, out of the blue comes salvation. Maybe it's the recession that saved us, and the planned 20 billion will be used for something else.
I won't believe it till I see it in the paper. It's too good to be true. I feel like doing cartwheels (if only!)

The morning dawned overcast and chilly, but by 11am the sun had come out and it turned out to be a gorgeous day. I had a couple of things hanging on the clothesline flapping in the sunshiny breezy day.I like it.

I rode with Valentina to Petal, Mississippi. The grass is greening up quickly, flowers are blooming everywhere, redbud trees are covered in clouds of purplish/fushia blooms, trees are budding and the dogwood will ne next. Glorious beautiful day.

We went to the salvage store where they had crates of blueberries for 50 cents a box, bags of fresh spinach for 99 cents a bag, lots of meats and dairy products, diet soda for 10 cents each--Valentina and I bought a load (these are groceries from stores like Walmart, products that are a couple of days from their expiration date that the salvage store buys up and sells. ) Lots of people there. I love a bargain, that made me happy. Then we went to eat Chinese food and talked and talked.

I told Valentina of my grandbaby, 18 years old, who will be competing tonight in the Miss Texas Teen contest in San Antonio. I spoke to g'baby on the phone this morning, she sounds so sweet, and wished her luck, and keep me posted. All in all today couldn't have been much better.
