Feet of Clay

I just wrote about Dave Ramsey, the financial advisor, and his adamancy about everyone having health insurance. So today I was listening to him on the radio and a woman called in and asked why doesn't he provide health coverage for his employees? I assumed he did--that shows what you get for ASSuming anything.
So Dave fumbles and stumbles and gets snipey. He says "That's Socialism!"  And "That's not my obligation. It's not the government's obligation either. It's a matter of personal responsibility."
A man calls in and says Mary Kay (of the cosmetics company) provided health coverage for her employees because she felt it was her moral responsibility. Dave fumbled again and groused it wasn't his moral responsibility and if someone felt that way, they should quit their job and go to work for Mary Kay and drive a pink Cadillac.
A caller said his employer had a program that paid half the premiums, and the employee paid the other half. Dave just wasn't buying that. He is a multi-millionaire but he sure as heck ain't gonna provide any health coverage for his employees. Oh Dave! I'm gonna find it hard to listen to you anymore. The guru has feet of clay.
Bye y'all, Susil

I bet his attitude is something like, "I didn't get to be this rich by spending my money on other people!" Wow, talk about employers to stay away from - put him on the same list as Wal-Mart.

you know, I sometimes wonder if these sorts of people think they can take it with them. A friend who is a millionaire but lives like a pauper was telling me about his pet economies...for instance using only a dot of toothpaste, running water through the coffeepot twice, never buying envelopes and I felt like screaming.

Rather pathetic, huh? I don't listen to him anyway, but thanks for the heads up. It would be interesting, despite his lame defense, if he actually started to think about the criticisms and change his ways. Sometimes that can happen.

I have noticed more and more now-a-days that people are more and more self-centered and oblivious to the footprint they leave on this earth and other people's lives.

Feet (and ethics) of clay — you bet — and mud on his face!
