What a Ditz

I'm getting to be so ditzy, discombobulated and downright forgetful I could kick myself. This afternoon I wanted to go to the post office to mail a couple of bills. So I go out and lock the door and only when I'm out on the carport do I realize I left my car keys on the table, along with the two bills. Also on that key chain was my housekey (snarl.) That meant I had to find my other house key I keep hidden outside. (groan.)

I found the hidden key and went back in and got the carkeys and came back out--and realized I had left the bills lying on the table. Back in again and got them. Outside again my ankles started itching and I heard noises from under the car--two stray dogs had taken up residence under there and the flea bitten mutts were exuding fleas by the bushel. I chased them away. They came back. Ran them away again. Dag nab darn **%$^#$ dogs. I don't like dogs--that's why I don't have any--but if the neighbors have dogs, they always come to my house, or if strays are dropped off anywhere within a two mile radius, they beeline it to my house. (Snarl again.)

After the P.O. I went to the local hamburger joint and got a burger. There were two pulpwooders sitting there drinking coffee and I sat with them. I found out we have a new constable; the other one has retired. I found this out when the new guy who didn't look a day over 18 came in. He's just a baby. He was wearing a neatly pressed uniform and a heavy leather Sam Brown policeman's belt with a holstered gun at his waist and handcuffs and all the other accoutrement of lawmen. Bless his heart. I bet his mother is scared to death. The pulpwooders and I spoke of the oil slick--ruined seafood industry, of one of them seeing a panther with cubs in the woods, of catching eels in the creek (nasty things) and eating carp, another nasty thing, which they say is good despite its multitudinous bones, and open season on wild hogs that are everywhere.

That's it for the day; I'm turning in early...Kiss, hug
