Now that it's almost over, I find out that April was set aside to celebrate Confederate History Month across the south. In early April, Rocky Creek Baptist Church in the next county hosted Confederate Soldier re-enactors in the period dress of our ancestors.
Surviving Confederate veterans founded this church in 1865. There are 14 Confederate soldiers buried in the church cemetery. People who get in a snit about the honoring the memory of Confederate Soldiers must not understand the boys and men who fought and died in the Civil War were poor as dirt and never owned a slave. They fought against what they called a "War of Aggression," not for slavery.
The men and boys who died in this war deserve as much honor and respect as any other soldier who died on a battlefield. Susil
