Friday afternoon I was running water in the sink to wash dishes--and it was coming out dark rusty red. Good excuse not to wash dishes. I phoned Jose the board president of our little community water association. Seems as if there had been a break in the PVC pipe in the water line down the road from the house. Jose had repaired it and was flushing out the lines.
Well, I didn't want to wash dishes, do laundry or take a bath in that water. Luckily I keep plenty of drinking water on hand. It's a shame not to be able to drink water out of the tap, because it is pumped straight from a Miocene water aquifer, part of the Catahoula Miocene Formation. Pristine delicious water, ruined by old pipes it flows through getting to the house.
Saturday: Water still orange. It's okay to flush toilets with, but that's it. Dishes still sitting there unwashed. I'm really needing a shower.
Sunday afternoon: Water cleared up. Washed dishes. Took a much needed shower. Skanky was turning into skunky. Okay, the buzzards circling overhead can leave now!
