Atrial Fib

Once a year I visit my cardiologist and have an EKG done to make sure my heart rhythm is okay. I go in, the nurse runs an EKG, my cardiologist comes in , we chat a few minutes while he checks everything out, and I'm back home again for breakfast.
A few years ago, I noticed my heart skipping and jumping after drinking coffee or tea, so I go to "Doc" and it was diagnosed as atrial fibrillation. The caffeine irritated the electrical node in the upper chamber of the heart--now I have to drink decaf tea and coffee and not imbibe in too much chocolate either (it contains a caffeine like substance.)
Decaf tea and coffee does not taste like the "real" thing, but I'm used to it.
"Doc" is a a superb person; witty and wry. He told me about something that once happened to him. He had two new patients in the waiting room, male and female, with similar last names--so when the nurse called a female patient into the exam room, a man came with her. Since they looked alike, he thought they were related in some way.

"Doc" proceeds to pull the woman's top down and listen to her heart and lungs, does the entire physical, writes a prescription and she leaves the room. The man stays. "Doc" says "I'm finished; you can go with her now." The man says "I have no idea who that woman is. I've never seen her in my life." Uh Oh.

Since everything was Okay, I rewarded my self by stopping at a gourmet bakery and buying a frozen quiche--the hand made pie crust is delicious, as is the filling. It's horrendously expensive, a rare treat for me. It's baking now, so must go and have a slice with some decaf coffee.
