Kind of Scared

The fires are all around us. It had come to my city yesterday. Just taking a tiny break here. Not going to stay because I need to keep my eye on the TV to see if we need to get ready to evacuate. I'm a little afraid to turn it on now. It's scary when it's somewhere else, but really scary when it's you.

Well, the fire has been a little contained here. But, we are still not out of danger. They are still watching it. It depends on the winds. The temperatures will be high 80s, low 90s today.

I lived at my sister's ranch near Moorpark 15 months after I sold my Long Beach house. We had to evacuate once when a fired burned down from Santa Paula. I lived in the old quonset hut that used to be the ranch hands' shack and it was right on the edge of lemon groves. I figured the metal building would be all right but the smoke got really thick. The hardest thing was to get all three of my cats in the car and boogey out of there. I loaded my computer, files and photos, about five changes of clothes and the three animals. The cats thought it was the end of the world.

Be safe. Pick a good escape route and load the car, just in case. Let us know what happens.

Be careful! I hope everything works out. My brother went through this last year when he was living in Oceanside.
