Nice Visit with the Family ...

It's funny to me, I knew that this weekend would go well because there were going to be other people there to "buffer" the brunt of my mother. It did go well, but I was still surprised nonetheless. I stopped at my graphics designer's to introduce them to the spiker. He was quite pleased with the attention that they gave him, but was eager to get on the road.

So we headed out, and hit a bit of traffic going through Scranton. This was not so exciting, so we hit the detour button on my beloved GPS system. It seriously took us through the strangest places in the state of PA. We were on these backroads where there were farms and animals. I was talking to my best friend A (female) when my phone randomly shut it self off and went from full power to no power. Kristylyn, this is why I called this the twilight zone. It was so freaking strange. I got home with no problem.

We started to run errands as soon as I showed up. The parentals dog was still around so she went in the crate when we got there. My older sister M takes ambien to help her sleep, and so she took her pill around 10 pm. I was tired because I had driven a long time, and was unable to sleep in that morning. So she went to sleep, spike passed out, and I followed shortly after. Apparently this pill does not work completly because she wakes up in the middle of the night everytime that I decided to go to the bathroom. She felt the need to ask me where I was going and proceeded to speak to me for like forty minutes. I was very sweet to her and said, shut the heck up. There may have been a swear word in there but I am trying to work on my poddy mouth.

The fourth of July was beautiful. We had good weather up there, and sat outside and got ready for the party doing various odd jobs. My dad's friend came in and he's the nicest guy in the universe. His wife is super cool too. I never would have pegged either one of them for dog lovers. They said that he was making them want a dog! I was like he's 3, keep that in mind and the only reason he's calm is because the attention is overflowing. We had a few drinks and I decided to skip the fireworks because I was beat! I got decent sleep.

Saturday was sister M's big day. She had finally graduated! People were set to come over around 3. We helped in the morning get some last things set up. My mother was relatively calm, which is a shocker in it of itself. We all had a nice time, I got to visit with people that I hadn't seen in a while and meet some people too. The interesting people were M's co workers who were well, how is the nice way to say this? Special. The one guy talked to me for like ever and he didn't get that Spike was my dog even after I told him he was. It was interesting, but I definitely got stupider by the moment.

Sunday morning was hectic, trying to pack and help get breakfast ready. I ate brunch and it was time for me to head out. M was sad to see Spike go, and I guess me. She's funny and I had a really nice time, which is funny to me too.

Hope you all had a lovely 4th.

It sounds like the visit with your family is just what you've been needing.

So glad you had a wonderful visit with family and friends and that your trip was safe and uneventful, with the possible exception of the trip through "No Man's Land".

At least extra people around creates a better buffer with your mom. Mine seems to get worse when there are more people to watch the "flip-out."

It's funny. I plan trips to my biological mother's house pretty much the same way. (However, I only go over there about once a year.) I make sure that there are going to be PLENTY of other people there to absorb the brunt of her attention. I also take GREAT PAINS to aviod being cornered by her!
Glad you had a great time!

Yeah, but did she remember what she said to you the next morning? That might be the question
