Some years ago, Pat and I went to Disney land, to a sub-park called Pleasure Island. About a month ago, Disney closed this attraction and I was really disappointed. This was a place for the adults, a night spot away from the kids. It consisted of a main street, with different clubs and themes. There was 8-Trax, a disco, a comedy club, and more.
My favorite was "The Adventurers Club". You went in, and there was a main area with a bar and lots of chairs. On the walls were all types of mementos from previous expedition's. Stuffed heads, masks from Africa, trinkets, and all kinds of stuff.
You would go in, have a seat, or wander around looking at all the "stuff" on the walls, and have a drink. When the place started to fill up, the "Members of the Club" began to appear. It was all improv, and interaction with the people. They would start talking to people, swapping tall tales, and having a good time.
After a while you were invited into the "Library" where the real show would begin. The show would change and normally involved their "fund raising" to save the club, but always had participation from a few of the people in the audience. It was one of the best times I can remember having.
Here are some photos I have found,,
Here is one of many videos on youtube,,
Even in the last show they kept their sense of humor saying goodbye!
