Are You Smarter Than an Athiest?

I decided to see how I would do on the Pew Research Group's recent poll on religion, where athiests, agnostics, Jews and Mormons all outperformed traditional Protestants and Catholics.
Though I was not able to take the actual poll, Pew had posted 15 questions that represented the complete gamut of the original questions.  The website stated that a score on these questions would give an accurate comparison to how I would have scored on the actual poll.
 Here's how I did:
You answered 14 out of 15 questions correctly
for a score of 93%
That placed me in the 97th percentile.
If you would like to take the quiz and see how you compare, go to

Here's how some 3250 people who participated in the random telephone poll did:

I'll make myself clearer, I know enough about the world's religions to know that none of them preach terrorism, and if all believers followed their laws "religiously" we would have none of the problem that plague us today. As for knowing specifics, I couldn't even tell you much about the religion I grew up in, Greek Orthodox. If marketing promotions and decorators didn't do their thing, I wouldn't even know Christmas was coming. Suits me.

Teal, you are such an empathetic person. You have a tender heart. That has to come from some spiritual depth within you. You may be an athiest, but you have a Christian's heart.

I know very little about religion except what I learned in the movies--Ben Hur, Greatest Story Ever Told, Song of Bernadette, Mn Of La Mancha, Easter Parade, etc.,--which I think is a good thing--less confusing fr themind!

PS I aced the quiz!

If you aced the quiz, you must know more about world religions than you care to admit.

Instead of participating in the poll, I have decided to have another hit of espresso and eat a banana. It is much more healthy. LOL

Atheists should be praised and honored, not vilified! We ain't so dumb. I won't tell you what my score was.

Whose vilifying? Athiests are at the top of the poll!

I did the survey the other day when it was circulating on FB. I only got 12/15, but that really isn't bad for somebody who hasn't played the believer-non-believer game in many, many years. Won't mention questions....
comment by jjoohhnn on Oct 1, 2010 7:47 PM ()
That's still well above the average for most Christians.

Good for you! I knew you would be!

I may or may not use the link to take the poll but I believe that whatever poll it is, on whatever subject, the results would be about as listed here.

You might surprise yourself. This is actually a poll testing your knowledge of all the world religions...not just Christianity.
