At the Olympics! Who Gets Cheers? Who Gets Jeers?

id="main_image">CHEERS FOR....First and foremost.....Shawn Johnson!

What a great kid....picking up silver after silver...always smiling....always congratulating the Chinese or her American rival, Nastia Luikin....never once complaining nor showing bitter disappointment!  Always epitomizing the very best of what the Olympics should represent.  It would have been a travesty of sport if she had not finally won that gold on the beam after being so consistently excellent throughout the competition.

JEERS FOR.....First and Foremost....The Chinese Gymnastic Federation...

For obviously doctoring passports so that girls not old enough could compete.  If those three girls on the right are sixteen, I'm thirty-nine!!

CHEERS FOR....Jason Lezak.....

who swam "outside himself " to preserve the gold in the men's 400  medley relay while Michael Phelps got all the glory.

JEERS FOR........Michael Phelps....

......who was showing way too much butt and needed to keep the straps on his shoulders. (Sorry, but that really bothered me!  I thought the guy was going to lose his pants the way he was jumping around)

CHEERS FOR.....Nastia Luikin....

for winning the gold in the all around and on uneven bars....though she had to settle for silver on bars...

JEERS FOR....THE INTERNATIONAL OLYMPIC COMMITTEE...

for their assinine rule that a tie for the gold cannot exist in gymnastics but can in other sports....putting into place a ridiculous system to break the tie.....a tie is a tie!!

CHEERS FOR......The Chinese Olympic Committee....

for one of--if not THE--most spectacular opening ceremony I have ever watched.

JEERS FOR....The Chinese Olympic Committee....

For having this little girl lip sync during the Opening Ceremonies because they thought the little girl actually singing wasn't "attractive enough".

CHEERS FOR....Misty May-Traynor and Kerri Walsh...

For their second straight gold medal in beach volleyball as well as their phenomenal run of 101 undefeated matches!

JEERS FOR...NBC sports prime time coverage....

For inundating us in prime time with beach volleyball while completely ignoring a plethora of other events and athletes....pitiful job-NBC!!!

A FINAL CHEER FOR.....JONATHAN HORNTON (An OU Sooner by the Way!!!)

For being a "riverboat gambler", adding three difficult elements to his high bar routine at the last moment to try to contend for a medal. ."Sooner Magic" prevailed as he was rewarded with the silver...Also for stepping in as the "leader" of his team after both the Hamms withdrew to rally them to a bronze medal.  Way to go, Jonathan!!!

And that's my final word on this Olympiad....unless I decide to have another final, "FINAL" word---a woman's perogative, you know!!a href="https://www.web-stat.com">traffic analysis

Interesting post! Isn't it ironic that usually the charge is that the athlete(s) are older? However, if those are the rules, then the Chinese government are complicit in cheating! Our athletes are all epitomes of grace, extra hard work, dedication, grace, and everything that makes great people!

Oh, I don't know...I kinda enjoyed watching the wedgies...uh...I MEAN watching the Beach Volleyball Show every night!
I am awfully proud of our kids over there, not so much for the medals they won, but for the sportsmanship and good manners that they showed the world. The pro athletes could learn A LOT from them!!!
