The Lay of the Land

Sarah Palin recently told Barbara Walters that she currently is getting a feel for "the lay of the land" and that she will consider running for President in 2012 if she decides it is in the best interest of the United States and her family. Palin really should read Tom Clancy's book, Executive Orders.
Clancy discusses just what can happen when two countries begin playing "cat and mouse" as North Korea is now doing with South Korea.
Jack Ryan, the President in Clancy's tale, who is unexpectedly thrust into the chief executive's seat, also must deal with an attempted kidnapping of his small daughter, an assassination plot, intrigue between Iran, China, and India, a biological warfare attack on the United States that kills 10,000 people, lies by the opposition that are leaked to the press, and ultimately all-out war.
As protagonist, Ryan discusses how he works 12 hour days, gets little sleep and never sees his children or family.
If that's the life Palin desires, then she definitely should run for President.  Personally, for a number of reasons, not the least of which is that I don't think she has a chance of being elected,  I hope she does.
For one thing, I would love to see how she "cleans up journalism", as she has stated she will do.  I wonder, will she begin with Fox News, a disgrace to the "fifth estate" where she commentates frequently?
She has also stated that she will never allow another interview by Katie Couric, whom she states is too prejudiced.  I watched the interview Palin did with Couric.  Couric asked her legitimate questions to which she gave pitifully inane answers.  When Couric pressed her, she became defensive and flustered.
Personally, I agree with Barbara Bush's response, when asked by a reporter what she thought of Palin.
"She's in Alaska now," the crusty Ms. Bush answered, "and I hope she stays there."

She would have to be stupid to give up the pot of gold she jumped into--oh wait--she is stupid!

Exactly! Therefore, she is totally unpredictable and so are the wingnuts who support her.

You would have to tie me down to watch Sarah Palin's Alaska. I think she and Bristol are shameful to exploit publicity as they do. Family values?
Why aren't they at home with their babies.

Excellent point! The same thing has occurred to me more than once.

So do I! Miss Barbara doesn't mind telling it like it is!

I wasn't a Barbara Bush fan but I like her response. As for Palin, I am not at all sure the idiots who are taking over the country wouldn't prevail so I hope she comes to her senses (a long shot) and decides not to compete. Those who would support Palin in Washington feel (as I am sure they did during the last effort) that they can be the power behind the office holder, pulling the strings and having the real say. But Republicans who are still reasonable would definitely love to cancel her out.

She has a following among those who can be easily led or deceived. She is not at all popular among the independents, however, nor the Democrats. I personally don't think she will ever get the nomination; but, even if she does, she will never be elected. She's a lightweight and that will become more and more apparent in a political arena.

Good morning C.J. I'm telling you, like GWB, every time Ms. Smiley Face is on TV (which is way too often), I change channels. I really am quite sick of her and hope she falls into a sinkhole.

She constantly criticizes the press but uses it every chance she gets to put herself out there.
