Our air conditioner went out this evening. My knowledge is slim but I don't think it's good when the inside is running but the outside isn't. We decided our best plan of action was going to bed early and sleeping under the ceiling fans.
Summer vacation is moving along nicely. I spent all of this week in an inservice for school about differentiated instruction. It was really interesting. The point of it was differentiating teaching for struggling learners but it would work really well for all kinds of learners. Our district is moving towards an inclusive classroom so we getting prepared.
My "kids" (behaviorally challenged) have been doing inclusion for three years now. This is more about moving your struggling learners (learning disabled) kids into more inclusive environments. I think there are pros and cons about it, but that's true of everything.
Every time I go to one of these inservices I realize how blessed I am to work on a campus like mine. I know there are a lot of schools out there that don't do what they are supposed to do for special ed. kids. There are some in the district where I work-but mine isn't one of them. Our campus truly does have the philosophy that all students can learn and teachers are held to that expectation.
I have one more inservice in August-this one will be three days long-Capturing Kids' Hearts. I think I'm pretty good at working with kids but it's always good to add more tricks to your arsenal!
