Steel Magnolias (Special Edition)

The lives of a tight-knit group of Louisana women intersect at Truvy's (Dolly Parton) salon in this Oscar-nominated comedic tearjerker from director Herbert Ross. M'Lynn (Sally Field) survives her daughter Shelby's (Julia Roberts) wedding, only to face Shelby's risky choice to have a baby. Ouiser (Shirley MacLaine), Clairee (Olympia Dukakis) and Annelle (Daryl Hannah) round out the group that proves that with friends, you can survive anything.

A billion stars....ok 5 stars then. I LOVE THIS SHOW!! I have it on VHS but had to rent the DVD to see if their was some special features....and their was. They had a short about the author and he told the story of his sister that got married & had a keiki and medical issues like Shelby. She unfortunatley passed away and this is her story. I get chicken skin even now talking about it. FANTASTIC SHOW. If you haven't seen it...get your box of tissues and sit back and enjoy. I LOVE IT!!!

Great movie. I did not know it was based on a true story. How sad.

I love Steel Magnolias, it's one of my favorites. Being a southern belle from Georgia, I can certainly relate to being a "steel magnolia". We may talk funny and look all soft and sweet but we are strong women in our own way.
