I lost my cell phone a couple of days ago, and when I kept asking about it, my wife finally told me what had happened. The laundry woman had tossed it into the washing machine, failing to check my pockets. Of course the phone was totaled then and there.

Not to worry...she called her daughter Angelica, and arranged for me to get one of her "excess" cell phones. So this morning I was given a brand new phone. A DTC Touch instrument about the size of a kilo of gold, though it cost considerably less. It has no keyboard. A touch screen that uses Microsoft software that is a derivative of Windows. So I can learn to use it with a minimum of effort.

Besides, it is very "cool". Makes me feel young -- sort of like the feeling I get every time I look at Angelica.

I am arranging to give my laundry woman a pay raise.
