No One Loses a Contest – They Just Get Cheated

I guess it just comes with the territory. There is so much dishonesty and corruption everywhere you look here. I’m talking about the Philippines, but it applies to other countries I’ve lived in, as well.
The place where I live is the home of prize fighter Manny Pacquiao. His home village is just a mile or two from where I live. He is a prize fighter that became famous boxing in the Las Vegas game, and has become a celebrity; a national hero. To achieve his status starting out as a common man makes him a sensation among the people. He hasn’t lost a championship fight since 2005.
So when he fought American prize fighter Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas last night, and lost on a split decision the nation was totally shocked. That just can’t happen!
When I was growing up in the USA I remember hearing the phrase. “quit while you are ahead” quitting is not the same as losing. Of course no one can blame Manny for not quitting. Who would have quit? But he now has to pick himself up, get back on the horse, and get back into the race.

They are still talking about it in Las Vegas. Here is an article from today's paper:

Everyone knows that prizefighting is even more corrupt and crooked than horse racing.

Getting back on the horse was a figure of speach.

Oh, now I have to read what the Las Vegas paper had to say about that fight. I didn't pay any attention to it.

I expect that not too many people did. It did make it to CNN Sports, tho.
