Over the years I have been surprised, amazed and delighted by my wife's ability to build things. Her only training has been what she's learned from me, as we built things around here in the early days. She has an inate civil design sense.

We live on the eastern shore of Sarangani Bay, southern Mindanao. Our property is about 6 acres, and encompases about 400 yards of a coral reef and tropical marine forest (mangrove). We are both divers and have hundreds of day and night dives here.

She has long wanted a pier, to use for fishing, snorkeling and just plain enjoyment. So, she built one, using reinforced concrete filled precast culvert pipes for piling, reinforced concrete beams cast in situ, topped with precast reinforced concrete deck slabs. A sturdy 80 yard long, low maintenance structure with virtually no environmental impact.

I am very proud of her.
