Last Wisdom Update (I Promise)

Last night, by 11pm, the wounds still hadn't stopped bleeding. I wanted to sleep! And I couldn't leave the cotton swabs in my mouth because that would collect all the dirty blood and the wounds would be more swollen, which I think can lead to either infection or that nasty dry socket. The preferred time is to change the cotton swabs every 30-45 minutes.

And as I was sleepy from the medications, I brushed my teeth (without toothpaste, because I wasn't sure if I was allowed to spit the foam out) as best as I could, and use the dental clinic's mouthwash. Basically, when I was rinsing my teeth, it felt like the right side of my lips were bigger than the left.

Then I let the wounds continue to bleed while I went to sleep. Surprisingly, there was no blood on my pillow case this morning. It felt more swollen than it actually looks. But then, it's more of a pursing of my lips or when I attempt to smile, that I feel the bunch of flesh at my right and left side of my mouth. Weird ass feeling!

Not in too much pain today. I slept a lot. The medication knocks me out.
Even this morning, when there was slightly more pain, it wasn't as bad as when the anesthetic wore off during the middle of the night.

Basically, I feel more of the "I am a chipmunk and I have some acorns stored at the corners of my cheeks" than the pain itself.

I need to go down to the clinic next week (one week after wisdom tooth extraction) to have the stitching taken out.

Oh...Thanks for all your well wishes!

Next time you see the dentist ask why they are called 'wisdom' teeth.

Ummmm---when they take out the wisdom teeth do we lose all our wisdom??? Seems to happen to many people!!!

Matt, sounds like things are coming along there.
Rest up for the weekend and this will be fine.
Lynnie is right,I would used some ice chips there if this will
help.Maybe a reason for this on the stitches.
Ask the Dr.about this.Surely an explantion.
Good luck and take care.Best to mom.

I am surprised that you have to have the stitches out too! I did not know that anyone still used those. Oh, well! I am glad that hings seem to be going pretty well, though.

You have to have the stitches taken out?! When Rog had his done, they used the stitches that dissolve after a few days. I don't know why they couldn't use that type on you. Hmm...

((Hugs)) it won't be long before you feel right as rain again. Try placing some ice on your checks if you can bear anything touching them, this should help a little
