The last couple of days I have been a bit nostalgic for my high school years. I think it comes down to the warming weather and the fact that I took out my old Madonna greatest hits albume (The Blonde Collection). In high school, I had three best friends: Jay, Tamathy, and Shelly. We used to spend hours driving around in the backwoods of Foster and Scituate in his jeep, which had the monicker Remy Lorraine (long story). Most of the time we did that, we would have that tape or a similar one for Billy Joel playing, and we would be joining in shouting at the top of our lungs.
Along the same lines, I was talking with one of the kids in the computer lab. She said that she knew I had a MySpace and wanted to know if we could be "friends." I said sure, and we went through the steps to do that. We were talking a little bit because I know how saavy she is with MySpace, and I have been having trouble with completing the school part of my profile there. Basically, I could only post my high school and none of the rest.
Well, while she was giving me some training on filling in the rest, I mistakenly clicked on the name of my high school. Presto, it brought me to a screen where you could search people who went to my high school. I narrowed it down to an age range around me, and I found a ton of people I went to high school with.
So, I ended up getting caught up in browsing through 37 screens I people I remembered. What I thought interesting was how many people were gay, lesbian, or bi! I remember being made fun of at the time by some people because they assumed I was gay. Apparently, they were a little more up on things than I was at the time. I guess it turned out that I was not alone! It turned out that I found 6 gay guys, 2 lesbians, and a bisexual woman. I guess were were a very colorful high school.
It was fun to shoot through the list and see what happened to various people. I got to see tons of kids making up the next generation. I sent out a ton of messages and friend requests. It would be cool to reconnect with some of the people I found.
