Well, my class is progressing surprisingly well. We are about a third way into the semester. I am not sure what technological god is looking after me, but I don't seem to be having as many troubles as some other instructors. Some have had their whole course, including student work, disappear. Some people are having trouble getting a lot of the tools they use to work. It has not been the smooth transition that everyone has wanted.

I think one of the things that helped is I tried to sit back. Of course, I wanted to do all the things that I usually have in my courses, but I realized that it was going to require a certain level of flexibility to see things through. That has really helped.

For the most part, the system is doing everything that I really need it to. There has been a bit of a learning curve, but the students and I seem to be adapting to it. We are both understanding of the challenges we are facing, and that seems to really be helping.

In some ways, things are easier. There is a more defined location for the students to post their assignments, and it nicely connects with a tool that allows me to post their grade and my comments sheet directly to the assignment.

Now that I have some experience, I have a feeling that next semester will go more smoothly. Of course it was the same way with the last system we had. It took me about 3 years to feel fully proficient and able to maximize the use of the site for the students. I don't think it will take that long with the new system, though.
