Today was a weird day. I felt like I had some electromagnetic aura around me that seemed to wreak havoc with computers. Every time I went to do a project at work today, I couldn't because of computing issues.
For example, I mentioned that we were having server issues at work. That is still going on. It is the beginning of the month, which means I have to do my departmental reports of statistics for programming and references questions and volunteers. Well, that was a little more difficult since I couldn't get to my space on the serve to input that informaiton so I had to recreate what had already been entered and finish them up so I could turn them in.
Then, I went to check the email accounts the library has for the Reference Department only to find out that someone had deleted the version of Microsoft Outlook we had been using. So, I had to hunt down the account information so I could recreate those accounts on a newer version of Outlook so we could keep checking our email. That added another hour of wasted time to the day.
In the end, I ended getting everything I HAD to get done done. I would have liked to get some more done because I have fallen a bit behind on my work. My desk is a bit more buried than I prefer, but it could have been worse.
I did have a great day with the teens in the computer lab at work. It was a lot busier than I thought it was going to be with the weather. I think it is mostly because the last wave of big projectsis coming through and a lot of the kids prefer to come into the library to work on things so they can work on it in groups. I think they also like that I work with them to get the information they need. Today was also Wii day, so there were a few kids who came in just to play that.
Overall, it was a pretty good day. it defintiely could have bene worse.
Tomorrow is my last day of work before I get to go to the Rhode Island Library Association Conference. This year it is in Newport, the city by the sea. I am looking forward to it. So, when you hear from me on Thursday night, I will be reporting from there!
