Another Great

As you get older you realise that your hobby is getting way out of date, more so when collecting the recorded songs of yesterday, about 95% of my collection would be made up of singers who have died .
Here is one that was around for a long time and i'm sure most would remember.
Ethel Merman (January 16, 1908 – February 15, 1984) was an American actress and singer.[1] Known primarily for her powerful voice and roles in musical theatre, she has been called "the undisputed First Lady of the musical comedy stage."[2] Among the many standards introduced by Merman in Broadway musicals are "I Got Rhythm", "Everything's Coming Up Roses", "Some People", "Rose's Turn", "I Get a Kick Out of You", "It's De-Lovely", "Friendship", "You're the Top", "Anything Goes", and "There's No Business Like Show Business", which later became her theme song

Last night on PBS there was a show about all the greats of Broadway. Of course, they had clips of Merman, also Streisand and how she came to be picked to play Fanny Brice in "Funny Girl". I loved it. Our music will last. Never mind all this pop crap that's out there now. Nothing in it.

Hobbies for me come and go, I become interested in something and after a certain point I become disinterested. They all have been like that except for my writing, that has been the one constant in my life. I will probably keep doing that until I am no longer here.

I loved Ethel Merman's singing & even her super annoying role in one of my fave comedies "It's a Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World."
