Easycap

Having a lot of VHS videos still and wanting to keep my operetta ones i found a $10 program called Easy Cap, bought it a week ago on E BAY,i reckon the postman walked here certainly a long delivery.
Anyhow i read the instructions on how to put the CD that came with it that installs it on the laptop.
First up its says insert CD press computer dvd rw drive and it will open with installation instructions, you guessed right an hour later still trying i gave up. Went into daughters place to get her to check it out ---ha haaaaaa she uses firefox where i use internet explorer even then no go , she then said it was the explorer still on her laptop that was causing problem so she shut that down altogether and lo and behold it worked.
So back home i came (her house is only 12 feet away) and installed fire fox , then deleted explorer and yes the bloody thing still wont work. have given it away as a bad job, its 9pm , will cool down a bit overnight and try again tomorrow.
this time i'll get daughter to do it for me

Actually Kevin I got rid of all my books, CDs, Playbills, etc. on ebay a few years ago and little by little--every weekend---I am doing through dresser draws and closets--if I haven't worn, used or looked at in past 5 years out it goes!

I looked it up, and it sounds like a great thing to save your VHS tapes. I used something similar to transfer some family home movie VHS to DVDs.
