Who knew computer modem's could cause a person so much trouble. I sure didn't.
It started this weekend when I couldn't connect to the internet. I had a similar experience once before but it was a simple enough solution - unhook all the modem wires, wait for couple minutes, plug back in, wait another couple minutes for the modem lights to settle, and connect. But this time none of that worked so I ended up having to phone my provider's toll-free number for tech help. A very nice man came out to my apartment a few hours later to see if he could locate the problem. It ended up being a faulty modem. I was provided with a brand new modem (no charge) from the company. It works great now. I'm very happy with the fast service!
I always thought of myself as someone who could do without a computer, but this experience made me realize just how attached I am to it. Not so much to the computer itself, but to all it represents -- I felt lost! That sounds sort of strange and sad, doesn't it? It's not like I spend hours online or anything, but I do like the feeling of being able to access my email whenever I want. It made me realize how much I take my computer working for granted. I rarely have computer issues so when I did, it really threw me for a loop.
I'm glad to finally be "connected" again.
Nothing really knew to talk about. I'll be seeing my mom tomorrow for our weekly get-together. We'll be starting to tackle her kitchen for the upcoming move in November. One of my brothers decided to take two of the hutches (Amish made)for his and his wife's home which will be an enormous help -- the hutches are huge and bulky. We're trying to find people in the family such as grandkids to take some of the furniture, so it won't go to waste. One of my college-aged nephews is moving into his own apartment so it will save him some time and money. I don't think he realizes just how expensive furniture can be. The remaining furniture will be donated to charity or used by mom in her new apartment. I will be taking a few pieces myself -- an antique table which belonged to my grandmother, and a collection of Polish tableware. A month left before her move and still a lot left to accomplish!
Tonight is Modern Family season 2 premiere. Can't wait! I so love that show.
